Past
Bachelor Industrial Design
I’ve been very curious about technology from a young age. I was always surrounded by music technology growing up: my dad’s home studio introduced me to the music production process, and through his job as a software engineer, I also caught glimpses of software engineering.
Before starting my Industrial Design Master’s, and even before my Industrial Design Bachelor’s, I already knew I wanted to go into technical education. During high school, I contemplated studying chemistry, but changed my mind and decided to pursue computer science, only to change my mind again later.
My main gripe with these technical studies: the lack of artistry and creativity. That’s why I settled on industrial design, because I felt like this would give me the opportunity to both express myself creatively and learn more about the technologies that have fascinated me for a long time.
My bachelor’s granted me the opportunity to try out a lot of different things. Having been in CRIGS (now New Futures), Vitality, and Crafting Wearable Senses, I got to witness design being addressed in different ways.
I learned a great deal about electronics through electives in electrical engineering, and about software through electives in computer science. These experiences gave me a very strong foundation in both Technology & Realization and Math, Data and Computing.
During my FBP Fabulous Feather, I got to expand my skills in computational fabrication through 3D printing. Ultimately, these experiences cemented my interest in filament-based 3D printing, along with the technical skills and knowledge that would come in handy during my master’s.
