Past
I’ve always been very curious about technolgy from a young age. I was always surrounded by music technology in my dad’s home studio introduced me to the music production process, but through his job as a software engineer I caught glimpses of software engineering. Before starting the Industrial Design Master, and even before the Industrial Design Bachelor I already new I wanted to go into technical education. During highschool I contemplated about studying chemistry, but changed my mind and decided to pursue computer science, only to change my mind again later. My main gripe with these technical studies; the lack of artistry and creativity. That’s why I settled for the industrial design, because I felt like this would give me the opportunity to both express myself creatively, and learn more about the technologies that have fascinated me for a long time. The bachelor granted me the opportunity to try out a lot of different things. Having been in CRIGS (now New Futures), Vitality, Crafting Wearable Senses, I got to witness design being addressed in different ways. I learned a great deal about electronics through taking electives from electrical engineering, and about software through electives from computer science. These experiences gave me a very strong foundation in Technology & Realization, and Math, Data and Computing. During my FBP Fabulous Feather I got to expand my skills in computational fabrication through 3D printing. Ultimately these experiences cemented my interest in filament based 3D printing, with technical skills and knowledge that would come in handy during my master’s.
